According to the recommendation of the people’s deputy Grygorii Kaletnik the veteran of labor Kovalyk Vira is guerdoned with District Honorary Award “For merits to Lupovets district”

Vira Ivanivna was born on February, 15, 1921 in town of Lupovets Vinnytsia region.

She graduated from secondary school in 1940.

Before World War II she worked as a teacher in the village of Zoziv.

In October 1941 she went to the front as a volunteer. At the age of 19 she became a defender of her Motherland. In fire and death she went through the War as a member of 170 squad of the 18th tank corps of the 5th guard tank army. She fought for liberty of Stalingrad city, Rostov, Voroshulovgrad, Poltava and Kharkiv districts. She participated in the battles near Kirovograd, Uman, Tulchyn, Vapniarka and Bershad.

After the War she worked as a senior inspector of Lupovets Social security department. For more than 9 years she was the secretary of Lupovets Village Council.

She brought up 2 daughters.

Nowadays she takes an active part in social life of the city and patriotic education of youth. Currently she participates in almost all events that are held in Lupovets region.

 

Kovalyk Vira was awarded with national awards and honors of different levels for military and labor merits. She got “Respect Award”, 2 medals - ”Award for Courage” and “Second Degree Award for World War II”; military medals “Defender of Motherland”, “Award for fighting merits”, “For Defense of Stalingrad”, “For Victory over Germany; 14 anniversary medals and rewards of national, regional and district levels.

Vira Ivanivna has deserved respect of district and region residents. There are many articles about her heroic life path in regional and district newspapers and magazines.

   Today Vira Ivanivna is an active public leader in the district. Grygorii Kaletnik notes that young people should take military merits and selfless work of this woman as an example. The story of her life should serve as a valuable lesson for each of us.

On March, 15, Honorary award and a present from Grygorii Kaletnik were solemnly handed over to Kovalyk Vira Ivanivna at the District House of Culture on the occasion of the 90-th anniversary of Lupovets region foundation.

Vira Ivanivna sent sincere words of gratefulness to Grygorii Kaletnik for constant care and help.
